LGBTI people are discriminated against and excluded in large parts of the world. In some countries they may be imprisoned or even sentenced to death for their orientation. Fleeing is often the only option. They leave their family and friends behind for an uncertain future in a foreign country. Just as in their own country, their sexual orientation is often not accepted by fellow asylum seekers and their families. This can lead to serious forms of threat, social isolation, anxiety, depression or worse.

WHAT WE DO
Our Asylum working group removes migrants from this social isolation and introduces them to Dutch (LGBTI) society by organizing meetings and activities where they can get to know each other and the Dutch (LGBTI) culture.

Activities include:

  • Sexual Health Workshops
  • Legal advice
  • Introduction to the Dutch culture
  • Introduction to Volunteer work
  • Arts and culture workshops
  • Games
  • Networking
  • Introduction to integration
  • Movies
  • Lunch and dinners as a group

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Our Monthly Meetings take place every first Saturday of every month.

Please note: COC cannot offer legal, medical, mental or financial help. If more help is needed, we will refer to other organizations.
