Cocktail is project that brings together newcomers to the Netherlands and local LGBT people. By pairing up “buddies”– a Dutch buddy with an asylum seeker, refugee, migrants, and other foreign LGBT people living in the Netherlands– Cocktail builds communities of support and friendship. Participation is free (though you may need to pay for drinks, transportation, etc. when you meet with people.) This is not a dating organization, and buddy cannot give legal, financial or medical help. However, Cocktail can introduce newcomers to the local LGBT scene, and organizes events and activities to help them build their social network in their new home.
By organizing meetings and activities Cocktail wants to create a social network where people can be themselves and feel accepted. This is hopefully a pleasant way of integrating into Dutch (LGBT) society.

The Gay and Lesbian Switchboard helps to answer LGBT questions via phone, email and chat, and also provides a very good social calendar. The website is only in Dutch, but you can see a list of events on their “Agenda” page, and can search by location and day. When you go to the Agenda page, linked on the right of their homepage, you will see an orange bar on the top of the page that allows you to search events by city or town. On the right side of the page, you do an advanced search which considers the period of time, place, region and audience (such as a specific gender, interest, age group, etc.)
